Hey there, lovely readers! A couple of years back, I shared this mouthwatering recipe for a Vegan Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich on my old blog. It all started when I saw a co-worker's Instagram post, featuring their very first Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. The temptation was real, and I couldn't resist trying my hand at a vegan version using my homemade Seitan Steaks. Today, I'm excited to share this delectable recipe with you all.

This Vegan Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich is a delightful twist on the classic, and it's loaded with flavor and goodness. I used some vegan shredded mozzarella and Malabari Paratha bread, but feel free to use your favorite flatbread or sub roll. What takes this sandwich to the next level is the addition of dark leafy, mixed greens that are slightly wilted, adding a fresh and wholesome element to the dish. Vegan Philly Cheese Steak Recipe:


  • 1 prepared Seitan steak

  • 1 cup fresh Cremini or white mushrooms

  • ½ cup sweet yellow onion

  • 4-5 oz fresh dark leafy, mixed greens

  • 2 tablespoons vegan mayonnaise

  • 1-3 slices Malabari Paratha bread (or your preferred flatbread or sub roll)

  • ¼ – ½ cup shredded vegan mozzarella

  • 1-2 tablespoons avocado oil or coconut oil

  • Garlic powder to taste

  • Dash of sea salt


  1. To kick things off, prepare my homemade Seitan Steaks, and slice them thinly. Set the slices aside while you prep the mushrooms and sweet onion.

  2. Thinly slice the fresh mushrooms and sweet yellow onion. Combine them with the Seitan steak slices. Heat a pan and add a few drops of avocado oil or coconut oil. Toss in the sliced ingredients, sprinkle with garlic powder and a dash of sea salt, and sauté until the onions begin to wilt and the mushrooms become tender.

  3. Add a couple of handfuls of fresh mixed greens to the pan and toss again. Once everything is nicely mixed and cooked, remove it from the pan.

  4. Now, it's time to prepare the Malabari Paratha slices. Place them on a large cookie sheet, spread a generous layer of vegan mayonnaise on each slice, and sprinkle an equal amount of vegan shredded mozzarella. Customize the amount of mozzarella to your liking. Pop them into a preheated oven at 350 degrees and heat for about 3 to 5 minutes, or until the vegan cheese begins to melt slightly.

Plating the Sandwiches:

Place each prepared Malabari Paratha slice on serving plates. Pile on heaping spoonful of the prepared Seitan mixture from the pan. For the finishing touch, garnish with a little more shredded vegan mozzarella. This meal is not only incredibly filling but also incredibly delicious! Eating healthily and indulging in fancy flavors is a true treat.
