I Rebuilt My Cookbook From Scratch. Here's Why — and What's Different Now.

I want to tell you something I don't usually say publicly.

The first version of my cookbook wasn't finished.

The framework was right. The monthly focus foods system genuinely works — I use it myself, and I built it because I needed it. But when I went back and looked at the recipes honestly, most of them had one or two ingredients and one or two steps.

That is not a recipe. That is a starting point.

I knew it when I published it. I told myself it was intentional — keep it simple, let people adapt, don't overwhelm. And there is truth in that. But if I'm being straight with you: the recipes needed more. And you deserved the full thing.

So I rebuilt it.


What I Actually Did

This was not a light edit. I went through all 144 recipes — every single one across all 12 months — and rewrote them from the ground up.

Here is what changed in every recipe:

Full ingredients. Each recipe now has 4 to 8 real ingredients matched to what you actually see in the photo. No more guessing what's in the bowl.

Real directions with real technique. Heat levels. Timing. Visual cues — "cook undisturbed for 3 to 4 minutes until the bottoms start to brown and pop." The details that make the difference between a recipe that works and one that doesn't.

My personal Notes on every recipe. The tip I'd give you after making it a dozen times. The substitution that works. The thing that surprises people every time. This is the section that makes the cookbook feel like mine — and I hope it makes it feel like yours too.

Expanded Healthy Benefits. Not "supports gut health." Specific. Ingredient-level. Why turmeric and black pepper belong together. What actinidin in kiwi actually does. Real information for people who want to understand what they're eating.

Why I Rebuilt Every Single One

I could have updated a handful of recipes and called it an improvement. I did not do that.

Every recipe got the same treatment because the system only works if you trust it. If you open the book to any month — February, July, October — and the recipe is thin or incomplete, you lose confidence in the whole thing. You close it and go back to what you already know.

I did not want that to happen. So I went through all twelve months, all 144 recipes, one at a time.

January's Ginger Chickpea Skillet now tells you to pat the chickpeas dry first, why that matters, how long to cook them without stirring, and what you are looking for when they are done. It tells you the photo shows a golden color that comes from patience — and that resisting the urge to stir is what makes this recipe go from "warmed chickpeas" to something genuinely satisfying.

That is the kind of detail that was missing. It is in every recipe now.
