My Wellness Journey: Why I Don’t Believe in Food or Exercise Shaming
Over the years, I’ve learned that health and wellness are not one size fits all. What fuels me, motivates me, or keeps me feeling strong and vibrant at 60+ might not be the same for you. That is the beauty of it.
I do not believe in food or exercise shaming. I have seen too many people feel judged for what they eat, how they move, or how their body responds. We all carry unique stories and needs: physical, mental, emotional, nutritional, and social. What works for me may not be the magic formula for you, and that is completely okay.

I am not an “expert,” and that is the point
I do not profess to be an expert. I am not formally trained in nutrition or fitness. I am not a competitive athlete, and I am not trying to be. What I do have is years of trial and error, research, personal experience, and measurable results from lifestyle changes over time.
That is why I feel confident sharing what has worked for me. Not because I have all the answers, but because I have seen how healthier habits can shift the way we live, think, and feel. If my experience helps even one person stop selling themselves short and start building a healthier lifestyle, it is worth it.
Without good health, nothing else matters much. It is harder to enjoy your family, passions, or simple daily joys if you do not feel well. Life asks us to face many kinds of pain and pressure: physical, mental, emotional, social, and financial. The healthier and more balanced you are, the more you can enjoy life instead of just enduring it.

Balance is a living practice
Keeping balance is not a one and done decision. It is a constant discipline and daily focus. Our environment shifts. Our life experiences and stressors change. Our bodies change too. Because of that, wellness is never a single plan that fits all people or even the same person forever. What served you last year might need a gentle update today. Flexibility and curiosity help you keep moving in the right direction.
What I have learned along the way
- Nutrition is personal. I thrive on a mostly plant based flexitarian lifestyle. For me, it supports energy, digestion, and longevity. I respect that other people may need a different balance.
- Movement is adaptable. I used to love heavy lifting. Today I lean into hiking, walking, and functional strength that supports daily life. Fitness does not need to look extreme to be effective.
- Mindset matters. A kind, resilient mindset shapes everything. How you speak to yourself, how you rest, and how you bounce back matters as much as what is on your plate.
We all want to grow into our best self. Our time is limited, but staring at the clock only steals it. Choose presence. Choose the next right step. That is how progress happens.

Why I created the 30-Day Wellness Workbook
Through my own experiments I realized that sustainable health comes from a strategy that feels good for you. Not from copying someone else’s rules. That is why I created the 30-Day Wellness Workbook and Guide.
It is not here to tell you what to eat or how to move. It is here to help you:
- Explore nutrition and fitness options that fit your life.
- Build simple routines you can keep.
- Track progress in a way that motivates you.
- Create a flexible plan that adapts as your needs change.
Think of it as a supportive framework, not a rigid script. You get prompts, reflections, and tools that help you listen to your body and design a plan that works for you.

My wellness journey keeps teaching me the same lesson. Compassion works better than comparison. Curiosity works better than criticism. Your path might look different from mine. That is the point. What matters is that you feel well, live fully, and keep moving in the direction of a life you enjoy.
