Make creamy blackberry raspberry nice cream sundaes with macadamias and flaxseed for a simple dairy-free July dessert.
July deserves a final recipe that feels celebratory.
These Blackberry Raspberry Macadamia Nice Cream Sundaes combine frozen fruit, plant milk, macadamia nuts, and flaxseed into a creamy frozen dessert without dairy.
They use four July focus foods:
- Blackberries
- Raspberries
- Macadamia nuts
- Ground flaxseed
The recipe is simple enough for an ordinary Friday but special enough to mark the end of the month.

Blackberry Raspberry Macadamia Nice Cream Sundaes
Serves: 4 small sundaes
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Freezing time: None if the fruit is already frozen
Ingredients
For the Nice Cream
- 2 frozen bananas, sliced
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1/3 cup unsweetened plant milk, plus more as needed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons macadamia nuts
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
- Small pinch of sea salt
For the Toppings
- Fresh blackberries
- Fresh raspberries
- 2 tablespoons chopped macadamia nuts
- 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed
- Unsweetened coconut flakes, optional
- Small drizzle of maple syrup, optional
Instructions
1. Prepare the Blender or Food Processor
Use a high-powered blender or food processor.
Let the frozen fruit sit at room temperature for three to five minutes if it is extremely hard.
2. Blend the Base
Add:
- Frozen bananas
- Blackberries
- Raspberries
- Plant milk
- Vanilla
- Macadamia nuts
- Flaxseed
- Salt
Blend or process.
Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
Add more plant milk one tablespoon at a time.
Use only enough to help the mixture blend.
Too much liquid will turn the nice cream into a smoothie.
3. Serve Immediately
Spoon the mixture into four small glasses or bowls.
Top with:
- Fresh berries
- Chopped macadamias
- Ground flaxseed
- Optional coconut
- Optional maple syrup
Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture.
Firmer Texture Option
Transfer the nice cream to a shallow freezer-safe container.
Freeze for 45 to 60 minutes.
Stir once halfway through.
Scoop and serve.
Do not freeze for several hours without allowing time to soften before serving.
Homemade nice cream becomes very firm.

Why Frozen Banana Works
Frozen banana creates the creamy base.
It provides:
- Natural sweetness
- Body
- Smooth texture
The flavor will be present, but berries help balance it.
For less banana flavor, use:
- One frozen banana
- One cup frozen cauliflower
- Extra berries
- A little more plant milk
The texture will be less sweet and slightly different.
Why Macadamias Work Here
Macadamias add richness.
They blend easily and have a mild flavor.
They help the dessert feel more satisfying without requiring cream.
Why Flaxseed Is Included
Ground flaxseed adds fiber and plant-based omega-3 fats.
It also slightly thickens the mixture.
Do not add too much or the texture may become heavy.
Make It More Raspberry-Forward
Use:
- 1 1/2 cups raspberries
- 1/2 cup blackberries
Make It More Blackberry-Forward
Use:
- 1 1/2 cups blackberries
- 1/2 cup raspberries
Make a Sundae Bar
Set out:
- Fresh berries
- Chopped macadamias
- Ground flaxseed
- Coconut flakes
- Cacao nibs
- Cinnamon
- Small amounts of maple syrup
Let everyone build a small sundae.
Storage
Nice cream is best served fresh.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one week.
Allow it to soften at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before scooping.
Is This a Healthy Dessert?
It is made from whole-food ingredients and contains no required added sugar.
That does not mean portions no longer matter.
Bananas, berries, and nuts still provide calories and natural sugars.
Enjoy it as dessert rather than treating the entire container as a single serving.
Why It Is the Right Final July Recipe
This recipe brings together several foods we used throughout the month.
The berries appeared in:
- Smoothies
- Salads
- Gazpacho
- Dressings
- Breakfast bowls
- Frozen pops
Macadamias appeared in:
- Sauces
- Salads
- Lettuce cups
- Breakfast dishes
Flaxseed appeared in:

That is the point of focus foods.
We learn enough ways to use them that they stop feeling like one-purpose ingredients.
July ends with something cold, colorful, simple, and fun.
Take the foods that worked.
Carry them into August.
Let the rest go.
- 2 frozen bananas, sliced
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- ⅓ cup unsweetened plant milk, plus more as needed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp macadamia nuts
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- Small pinch of sea salt
- Fresh blackberries
- Fresh raspberries
- 2 tbsp chopped macadamia nuts
- 1 tsp ground flaxseed
- Unsweetened coconut flakes (optional)
- Small drizzle of maple syrup (optional)
- Use all blackberries or all raspberries for a single-berry version
- Add a tablespoon of almond butter for a richer, creamier base
- Swap macadamias for cashews or sunflower seeds (nut-free)
- Add a small handful of spinach — it disappears into the color
- Stir in cacao nibs for a chocolate berry combination
- Use a frozen mango chunk for a tropical twist
- Layer in a glass with granola for a parfait-style presentation
- Freeze sliced bananas and portion berries ahead in freezer bags
- Pre-chop macadamia topping and store in a sealed jar
- Blend to order for soft-serve texture — nice cream does not hold well once blended
- For meal prep, freeze blended nice cream in individual portions and soften 5 to 8 minutes before serving
- Keep toppings separate until ready to serve
- Breakfast pops
- Fresh fruit plate
- Granola bowl
- Herbal iced tea
- A summer brunch spread
- Oat milk latte
- A light snack board
