Butternut Pecan Flax Crackers

Butternut Pecan Flax Crackers Recipe - Easy and Nutritious

Are you a fan of crunchy snacks? If so, you'll love my Butternut Pecan Flax Crackers recipe. These crackers have been a hit with my followers on Pinterest, and I can't wait to share the recipe with you. They are super easy to make and can be enjoyed as a nutritious snack or appetizer. Plus, they can be made with either fresh or frozen squash, making the preparation process a breeze. Let's get started!

butternut squash flax crackers

Ingredients (8 servings):
  • 4 cups organic Butternut Squash, shredded and mashed

  • 1 cup ground organic raw pecans

  • 1/2 cup ground organic flax seed

  • 1 tsp pink Himalayan salt

  • 2 T Grade B organic maple syrup

  • Ground nutmeg and garlic to taste

  • 1/4 cup water (more or less)

Preparation:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded and mashed butternut squash, ground pecans, ground flax seed, pink Himalayan salt, maple syrup, nutmeg, and garlic. Mix well.

  2. Gradually add water to the mixture, a little at a time, until you achieve the desired consistency and thickness. It's recommended to mix the ingredients by hand for better texture.

  3. The blended mixture should resemble a thick and slightly lumpy pudding. Spread the mixture evenly over a lined dehydrator tray, ensuring it covers the entire tray. If using a round dehydrator tray, spread the mixture over two trays if needed.

  4. Place the tray in the dehydrator and set the heat to 114°F. Allow the crackers to dehydrate for approximately 6 hours.

  5. Remove the tray from the dehydrator and use a spatula or butter knife to carefully score the somewhat dry mixture into small, even squares.

  6. Place the tray back in the dehydrator and continue drying for an additional 6 to 8 hours, or until the crackers reach a crispy and dry texture. If they appear leathery, dry them for a bit longer.

  7. If the crackers easily peel off the lined tray, transfer them to a tray with a screen and dry for another hour or so.

  8. Once dried, let the crackers cool completely before storing them in an air-tight bag or container.

Serving Suggestions:
  • Enjoy the Butternut Pecan Flax Crackers as a standalone snack.

  • Pair them with your favorite dips, such as hummus or guacamole, for a flavorful appetizer.

  • Crumble the crackers and use them as a topping for salads or soups to add a delightful crunch.

Storage:

These crackers can be kept at room temperature for approximately 2 days. For a longer shelf life, store them in the refrigerator or freezer.

I hope you love these Butternut Pecan Flax Crackers as much as I do. They're not only delicious but also packed with nutritious ingredients. Give this recipe a try and let me know how they turn out for you. Happy snacking!
